5:15–6 p.m. Cleanup, quiet time, prepare to go home

12:45 p.m. Lunch
1:14–1:45 p.m. Recess
1:45–4 p.m. Club activity or field trip
3:45–4 p.m. Snack (on Wednesdays without field trips)

6 p.m. Parents’ pickup deadline

Clubs

On three of the four Wednesdays each month, students participate in a teacher-led club activity of their choice, such as arts and crafts, hiking, puzzles, or organized sports such as soccer or Capture the Flag. Depending on the weather, there may be sledding or a trip to Codman Pool. If the weather is expected to be warm enough for swimming, parents will be notified ahead of time and asked to supply a bathing suit and towel.

Educational activities

LEAP regularly hosts activities by parents and other guests with special expertise. Some recent examples:

  • Science experiments and projects with a parent who’s also a college professor
  • Basic Spanish lessons twice a week for grades K-1 with a local high school Spanish teacher
  • Science/math/engineering sessions with staff members of Einstein’s Workshop
  • Librarians  from the Lincoln Pubic Library reading stories

LEAP kids can also be teachers—several of them regularly visit Magic Garden Children’s Center next door to read or sing with preschoolers.

If you’d like to lead a kids’ activity that relates to your area of expertise, we’d love to hear from you!

Field trips

On one Wednesday a month, there is an optional off-campus field trips to age-appropriate destinations. For example, younger children might go to One Stop Fun while older children go snow-tubing at Nashoba Valley Ski Area. Field trips leave LEAP at 1:45 p.m. after the children eat lunch and return by 5 p.m. Any admission costs are included in LEAP’s monthly fee.

Food

Students may pizza slices for $1 each or bring their own. Microwavable food is fine. If one of the children enrolled has a severe food allergy, we will notify all parents that the food or ingredient in question may not be brought to LEAP.
