Can you believe it’s June already? We had so much fun in May that the whole month just zoomed by!
Last week the Big Kids took a field trip to Altitude, a trampoline park in Billerica and they had the whole place to themselves! Back at LEAP, we had a special visit from Lincoln Conservation Director Tom Gumbart. Kids learned about hawks, owls, ticks, poison ivy, and tons of interesting new nature facts. LEAPers also got to participate in a campus clean up competition to see which grade group could collect the most trash. A big congrats to the 3rd and 4th graders for their win! And great job to everyone who participated.
This Wednesday, June 6th is Drone Day! We are so lucky to have a drone enthusiast right here in Lincoln! Lincoln resident Joe Santosuosso is joining us for the third year in a row to teach LEAPers about these tiny flying robots and everything they can do for us. This has been such a fun activity in the past and we are so happy to have Joe back at LEAP.
The LEAP Annual Meeting is this Wednesday, June 6th. This is a great opportunity to meet other LEAP families and learn more about how the program works—with no commitment to the board required. Come for the food and friends, and stay to see the many ways you can get more involved with your child’s experience at LEAP.
We’re also doing our scheduled monthly Fire drill this week. Did you know LEAP does a fire drill once a month as required by the Massachusetts EEC? LEAP takes a few moments each month to remind students the proper way to quickly and calmly exit the building and line up in a designated area where teachers take attendance. This helps the teachers and students prepare for the possibility of an emergency situation.
The Codman Pool is opening June 10th. Starting June 11th, LEAPers will have the option to go to the pool in the afternoons. Please remember to send your student with a swim-suit, towel, sunscreen, and any other summer essentials they may need. Students are not required to go to the pool, and there will be other activities here at leap, but please make sure they come prepared so they don’t miss out on the fun!
Wednesday, June 13th is the LEAP Spring Carnival! This is our end of year celebration with a bouncy house, snow cones, face paint, carnival games, prizes and more! Don’t let your kids miss out on this amazing event.
Some of the 4th grade girls have been saving their LEAP loot all year in order to buy a theme day! June 20th is the last Wednesday of the school year, and these girls will be planning the activities for the day, ending with a very special surprise!
School ends Monday, June 25th, but LEAP is open for the whole week! Sign up for LEAP Summer Playdays for the last week in June. You can pick one day, two, or just do the whole week! Kids will spend the day with teachers they know and participate in planned activities throughout the day. Sign up through the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department by searching for “Summer Playdays.”
Registration for next year has already begun! Get ahead of the back-to-school rush by registering your students now! Just download the registration packet from the Forms and Handbooks page on our website and return it to LEAP by email or in person.
