A Letter to LEAP Parents!

HAPPY SPRING!

Hello Leap parents!

Spring is finally here and Leap is doing all that we can to plan for the warm weather!

Here are some of the events that we have planned for the next few months!

This week at LEAP we had a ā€œMinute-To-Win-Itā€ competition on Wednesday, where the kids split up into teams and were asked to complete a challenge in just 60 seconds. Some of the challenges include:

ā€œKeep it upā€: where kids keep 3 balloons in the air by tapping them.
ā€œSuck it upā€ where kids have to move M&Ms from one plate to another by sucking them up with a straw.
ā€œCookie Faceā€ —Katie’s personal favoriteā€”ā€œwhere kids have to move a cookie from their forehead to their mouth using only their facial muscles.

After the kids completed their challenges, their team leader (staff) were tasked with a 60Ā second challenge of their own: Hungry Hungry Hippo: LIVE.Ā  Check out the video on theĀ website!

On April 13th we will be visiting our friends over at Drumlin Farm for their ā€œFarm toĀ Marketā€ program. Kids ā€œwill use real farm equipment as you work in our fields and barnsĀ to learn about growing crops and raising animals on a farm. Explore why we chooseĀ certain produce and animals, and how food gets from the farm to your table.ā€Ā  We areĀ excited to return to our friends over at Drumlin and help the kids learn about nature, andĀ also about the community that they are a part of.

VACA-PLAYDAYS: April vacation is from the 19th-22nd! LEAP will be open from 8am-4pm all four days for Vaca Playdays. You can sign up for just one day, or as many as youĀ need. But don’t wait! You must sign up before April 8th or you will be charged a $25 lateĀ fee!

After we return from April vacation, Leap will be taking it’s last field trip of the year. WeĀ will be joining the METCO students in Boston where K-3rd graders will be riding on swanĀ boats, the carousel, and playing games on the Common. Meanwhile the 4-8th graders willĀ be touring the Black Heritage Trail.

In May we have some great guest speakers and presenters coming to speak to the kids:

  • We will be having a drone-themed day where kids will learn about drones andĀ Lincoln Resident, Joseph Santosuosso, will come fly his drone right here aboveĀ the LEAP building!
  • Lincoln Conservation Director Tom Gumbart will be coming to LEAP to educateĀ the kids about all things nature, including ticks, plants, wildlife, poison ivy, andĀ more!
  • The Flying High Frisbee Dogs and owner are also coming to LEAP in May toĀ perform some of their amazing tricks!
